Vita Mix Company Background

Vitamix was founded by W.G. Barnard who was a self-thought salesman of modern home products in the early 1920s.

In 1937, he added a new product to his offers which was the blender. This was the first Vita Mix product ever.

When TV was introduced to the viewing public, W.G.'s son, Bill immediately saw the potential of this new medium to reach hundreds of potential buyers at one time.

He bought a 30 minute time-slot on WEWS-TV in Cleveland and aired what would be the first direct response commercial on the history of television. The commercial ran for several years and managed to anchor "blender" as a household term.

In 1955, Bill Barnard together with his wife, Ruth, took over the business when his father (W.G.) retired.

Dedicated to satisfy the needs of their customers, Bill made it a point to deliver products that far exceeds their expectations customer's expectations and backed it with superb customer service.

In 1964, the company's name was successfully changed to Vitamix Corporation right after Grover, Bill's son joined the business.

With the introduction of products such as the Kitchen Center, Vitamix 3600, and the Vitamix 4000 in 1969, Vitamix forever changed what blenders can do. They introduced a new breed of machines that can freeze and process ice creams, grind grains, make whole fruits and vegetables fresh juices.
