The health benefits of beet juice aren’t that well known.

In fact, not everyone would recognize beets when they see this awkward looking purple-ish root crop. 

Not that it's not common, you can pick a bunch up from almost any grocery outlet. 

It's just that maybe, not everyone put that much attention to the benefits that they can get from juicing beets.

Beet juice is mostly known as blood builder and purifier and it helps in speeding up the creation of red blood cells. It also contains nutrient compounds that could help your body fight off health conditions such as colon cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease and even birth defects.

Dr. Mikhail Tombak, a Russian longetivity researcher claims that compounds found on beets enhances blood structure and has the ability to cure diseases of the circulatory system, the large intestine, and even the digestive system. His studies also revealed that beet juice has the ability to cure or break up kidney, liver, and bladder stones.

Betacyanin, the pigment responsible for giving beets its purple-crimson color is a powerful cancer-fighting agent. Its effectiveness against colon cancer has been established through various animal studies. It was also established that beets can increase the production of two antioxidants that protect the liver from toxins, I'm sure their first names sound familiar. 

These antioxidants are also called "liver food" and they serve as the liver's protection against harsh elements. They are called glutathione peroxidase and glutathione-s-transferase. Juicing beets can protect your liver through the increased production of glutathione enzymes. 

Not only that, animals tested with beets experienced a drop in cholesterol count by 30% and 40% drop in terms of their triglycerides considering that these animals were chemically induced with high cholesterol. Researchers recommend drinking at least a glass of beet juice each day to combat against high blood pressure and heart disease.

Beet juice was also found as a potent inhibitor of cell mutations caused by nitrosamines, cancer causing compounds produced by nitrates. Nitrate is a commonly used chemical preservative in processed meats whose mutation in the digestive system can cause stomach cancer.

In 1950's, Dr. Ferenczi of Hungary adviced his cancer patients to take at least a quart of beet juice daily which was effective in getting rid of cancerous tumors. Glutathione is effective in detoxifying cancer-causing toxins. 

Dr. Sherry Rogers shares that glutatione can flush down various types of toxins from our colon; this however, is only possible if your system is rich in glutathione, otherwise, toxins remains clogged inside your body and a toxin-rich body is always a candidate for cancer and other degenerative diseases.

Beet juice also increases the production of CD8 cells in the colon, which are cancer fighting cells. Colon cancer is a growing concern on different parts of the world; the third most diagnosed cancer type in the US. Increased production of CD8 cells in the colon effectively fights colon cancer.

To fight off birth defects, a pregnant woman must eat folate-rich foods. It helps in the proper development of the infant's spinal column and lack of folate may result to a conditon called "neural tube defect". The daily requirement for adequate supply of folate is 400 micrograms. 1 cup of beet juice contains136 micrograms of folate, just taking 3 cups of beet juice daily will help ensure that your infant will benefit from beet juice and decrease the possibilities of birth defects.

With all these benefits of beet juice, you could say that it's a wonder crop and taking it daily will ensure your optimum health. And even if you're already ill, taking fresh beet juice daily, surely wouldn't hurt and it may just help reverse your condition.
